evolutionoz meet

no updates with the car this month, its all about celebrations and just enjoying what i've got! i got news of an evolutionoz.net tonight so i decided to check it out, it was just on the waters of parramatta river near the Le Montage restaurant. was a great meet with the perfect backdrop. i met many new faces and they quite enjoyed the rim choice for my evo *commence ego stroking*.

bavarian lust

we all remember a while back i posted about my attraction of the toyota aristo as a future pimp mobile. now from the other part of the globe and as part of a short series of cars i wish to own after the evo comes this bavarian treat.

i've always considered european cars to be out of price range and something i would never own but the power and attraction of the BMW 335i is making me think that *YES* i can own this car.. when the price drops... considerably of course! cause right now they are about 100k AUD second hand (FML!). Anyways, bmw's ooze class and success, they handle exceptionally well and are full of comfort but why has the 335i got me going gaga? (rah rah-ah-ah roma roma-ma) the answer is simple, its a 2 door 3L twin turbo 225kw machine! and in terms of mods, BMW's only need 2 things: coilovers and BBS LM's!!!

you'll see what i mean below. hot damn, its sex on wheels.. i can save up for this car! :), stay tuned for the other 2 contenders!

feelin' like an aristo-crat

i've been randomly thinking of cars i'd like to own after the evo. the focus is definitely shifting away from hi-po cars and moving towards cruisers and boats, mods won't be as plentiful. Recently, i've taken interest in one cruiser.. known as the JZS161 Toyota Aristo (98-05). Although sold and known locally as the Lexus GS300 the JDM Toyota Aristo is the one that has peaked my interest. Why ? because it comes with the most bulletproof of engines, the 3L twin turbo 2JZ-GTE. theres something about a bulletproof bottom end and the potential for crazy amounts of power that makes the 2jz such a great and appealing engine. its a lexus so the interiors gonna be good and its a cruiser so super good handling isnt a concern either, it ticks all the boxes except 2. it isn't available in australia nor does it come in manual which is a real shame but hey!! maybe in the future they'll be available for import

Now you're probably wondering why the aristo?? the answer is these 3 cars.

1) Friends Racing Aristo - i'm a huge fan of Inose's exploits in this boat, its a 1000hp + nos fitted beast that smokes up everything and anything, watch the youtube vids and you'll know why this car is just so awesome. its subtle kit, big rims, obscene power is what i'd love for MY aristo!

2) Manabu Orido's Ridox Aristo - Max ORIDO ! ROLLING NICE! orido is an absolute gun of a drifter and his daily beast is nothing short of cool. sporting the aggressive ridox kit, the aristo is transformed from a mundane family cruiser to a steroid pumped brawler.

3) Powervehicles.com Aristo - we all know i'm a sucker for red, but this vertex kitted car is just beautiful, theres nothing more to say! the vertex kit matched with concaved rims is perfect.

So.. if i had my way how would i do it? easy. i would be blending bits and pieces from these cars into one. My aristo would be black, with ridox front bar, vertex sides and rear. large BBS rims, manual conversion and at least 400hp at the rears.

V8 Supercars Telstra 500

Scored some free tickets through work to the v8 supercars telstra 500 @ olympic park. Its the final round of the series and the first time the cars have raced in olympic park. The weather and atmosphere was good and the racing was action packed. Fast cars, fine women and great weather you couldnt ask for anything more! The only downside was that i got sunburnt :(

was bored last nite so i attended a mini evooz meet. they were escorting some yr 10 students to their formal. one guy managed to charge their passengers $80each to drive them .. WTF! i need to make my car super hot so i can make money like that LOL. anyways, we took some pics afterwards at a local industrial park. the evo whoring stops today.

unleashing the inner whore

Been experimenting with ride heights over the past few days, it would look like the original height (2 finger gap between tyre and guard) i had is the best one to ensure minimal scraping of front and rear guards. Kinda sucks as i'd love to have gone lower but the compromise is just not worth it.

Anyways, attended some meets this weekend along with whoring all over the city lol. heres pics from JDMST rims/tyres meet and EvolutionOz.net Hunter Valley Cruise. Going to another meet up tonight for some photatos then the car's due for service.

exterior. COMPLETE!

Been doing alot of research and discussion on forums to see if anyone is running the same wheel combo as me. i've been scraping heavily on bumps and turns with people in the car like.. really bad scraping !! i'm starting to question if the ambitious choice of 255/40/17's were going to work on my car. i came up with the following solutions:

1) sell off my yummy dunlops for a smaller tyre, 245/40/17 or 235/45/17 for a stretched look that will clear the rear.
2) raise the car more or stiffen up teh rear by changing the spring rate
3) cut the rear plastic wheel arches so that the tyres clear

1st option = expensive, 2nd = compromises handling, 3rd = winner. everyone had pushed me to go with option 3 and thats what i did. so we attacked the arches this weekend and cut about 2/3's of the lip off using a dremel and a stanley knife. not the most professional job but its good and clean enough for me. i'll be testing the ride during the week with various people in the car to see how it fares. fingers crossed it doesnt scrape too much so i can lower the car a little more.. so i can have the perfect stance. but for now, EXTERIOR COMPLETE-UUUUUUU~

freakin' jzx invasion

hung out with some of the jzx crew today, was tagging along with james (we'll call him cunt) and his friend ... james (we'll call him jaymez) get their new rims fitted with tyres. They packed up the echo with like 6 rims and tyres, damn that things roomy haha. we went to doora to get tyres fitted but ran into a snag when fitting them onto jaymez chaser. the boys at doora are too used to fitting lebbo rims to cars and didnt have a socket thin enough to loosen the jdm rims.

So we headed off to Big-O tyres and got them fitted. Cunt is a regular there and they know him well, i was actually quite happy today cause i was getting props for my car by the tyre shops and passers by in cars and on foot, makes the pain of my wheels experience worth it... onto the pics!

jaymez got Origin labs DNA01 rims and they were resprayed in blackish/purple chrome.
Cunt had work VSXX on the rear and work VSKF on the front. they are all running stretched tyres so it provided me with good insight into what stretched profiles i could possibily run.

scraping into the sunset

Dropped by the local spare parts shop this afternoon and picked up some spacers. they are 5mm floating spacers which will provide enough clearance for the brembos. so on they went and presto ! cleared front brakes with about 1-2mm of space between rim and caliper YAY!. threw the rears on, re-attached my new black rear wing plate, went for a test drive and well scraped the whole way LOL so out came the jacks again.

Raised the front to a legal height (2 finger gap between arch and tyre) also raised the rear a little. went for a test drive and all is good with just me in the car. this definitely wont hold with a full load of people so i'm currently thinking of a solution for that. anyways heres some pics of the evo's new look.

when the shit hits the fan...

dammit, so close yet so far!! i started bright and early today, gave fedex a call and told them i'd be picking up my tyres. Went to meek to loosen up my rear coilovers so i can adjust the height, they wern't digging my chromes but they know it was only temporary. Zoomed home, picked up a few things and went to get my rims. I must say i was a little disappointed in the quality (FUCK!@#) but at such a cheap price i guess i couldnt complain. Then i went to fedex to get my wheels, getting to the driveway i fucked up and scraped my front bar, red paint gone.. (FUCK!#!) need to take more care with this ride height, lesson learned (FUCK!@#) dropped by the local tyre place and got my wheels fitted and balanced, then back to the crib to install.. oh yeh just to note, it was fucking 40degrees today ! and i'm running around like a headless chook sorting this shit out.. hahah (FUCK!@#!). So i start to fit my tyres and to my surprise the fronts dont fit !!! they rub and foul against the caliper (FUCK!@#!) anyways after some advice from my old man and friends we decided to grind the caliper down abit, refitted the rim and it was still touching. Instead of risking damaging the caliper and the rim we decided to put some spacers so we know what we need to buy. Turns out its best to buy a 5mm floating spacer and it will solve our problem.. so end of the day, im 50% away from completion and everything that could go wrong did.. FUCK MY LIFE.

i'll grab a spacer tomorrow and hopefully things will go alot smoother...

i must say the offest is perfect and the size isnt bad either... fingers crossed my +28's sit just as well.

almost ridin' dirty

Quick update, rims and wing plate have now been dropped off for powdercoating. I've just paid for my tyres from the U.S of A ($$$ ;_;)so fingers crossed they are all ready by the end of the week. Regos paid, council and water bills paid, just electricity left but i'll leave that for the end of the month. All thats left now is tyre fitment, wheel nuts and a wheel alignment. that will be all my expenses for November. All i need is a quiet weekend and i'll comfortably survive this month lol.

rimmed

I've had the worst morning, traffic was horrific, my stomach was fucked up, work was busy as hell and to top it off it was hot as fuck! welcome to Monday's in Sydney. after a boring lunch, i hopped on to track my rims and to my surprise it said they were in sydney ready for delivery. woo~! i was thinking they'd be in my hands sometime during the week but again to my surprise, the postman dropped by work and handed my wheels over!. Upon closer inspection of my rims i noticed that one rim was scratched, i guess thats the drawback of cheap sea shipping but not to worry that'll be fixed at the painters.

Nightmares were also confirmed with council, water and electric bills sitting on my desk. I will need to be frugal with money in order to pay for powdercoating, tyres, wheel nuts, rego and bills this month. Goodbye holiday fund but helloooooo sexy car!

bills bills bills ?

looks like its going to be a month of bills for november. i've started to save up for a trip overseas and i'm determined to stick by it, although i was quite tempted to use my very little savings to purchase something big for the evo in november. I have however knocked some sense into myself and decided not to buy it.. yet hahah.

Anyways just had my car serviced at Meek and my rego is due and the total damage is just under $1000, alot cheaper if the fuckwits in the motoring industry didnt decide to slap under 30 drivers with some bullshit MCIS levy.. what this levy actually is ? i've no idea!. Theres also the possibility that the killer quarterly bills are due Water, Electricity and Council. thats another $1000 gone.. WELL FUCK ME IN THE ASS! I HOPE ITS NOT THIS MONTH!@#!

so that doesn't leave me with any real cash to buy a catback exhaust for the car. As you may know, the car is too quiet and i wanted to extract some more power. I had been in heavy thought into what the perfect exhaust package would be. Titanium catbacks were heavily considered thanks to its unique sound, performance and light weight but the price is just too much.. something like 2.3k for a titanium system landed in aus. For that same amount i can buy a proven quality stainless catback system with dump and front pipe. I sat on the thought for a few days and decided that was the best route for me. It still sticks with my strictly JDM parts and only the best for the evo just without the baller titanium status. But more on my exhaust combo when i get around to making those purchases.

Just to keep me going, i've purchased some cheap rice lol. it'll be the only purchase for november as i have to keep money aside for powdercoating and tyres for my rims which by the way are still on a freakin' boat ! only 3-4weeks to go i think!

i'm just struttin

WOW, i didnt know that couriers worked on saturdays! so i was surprised to see the post guy standing at my door step with a large package (lol dirty minds unite!). I had ordered a cusco triangular strut brace with brake cylinder stopper a few weeks ago and its finally arrived!


installation is easy: unbolt your struts, remove the existing brace, bolt in the new brace, bolt in the brake cylinder stopper and tighten.



old brace will be on ebay for sale, will add a link once its up. i've yet to drive the car but i can never really tell the difference with braces haha. its just some extra stiffness and bling for the evo lol


now for the hardest part of this job.. should i or where the hell do i put the cusco racing sticker! haha

wangan midnight dreams...

Im not a complete fan of old skool and classic shapes. hell, i consider a majority of these old classics ugly looking lumps of metal. but in recent times i've come to appreciate the committment and style that has gone into restoring/re-creating these old birds.. such as the kpgc10 gt-r, the awesome datto 510's, old celicas and the iconic datsun 240z. Its the 240z that has me going ga-ga at the moment, the lovely lines, rear wheel layout and L-series powerplant is something a 25yr old car nut like myself lusts over. This interest or perhaps flavour of the month was heightened after watching and reading the wangan midnight series. The story is based around Akio and his Blue 240z labelled the "Devil-Z" a 3.1L custom twin-turbo that frequents the wangan highways and battles other cars such as evo's, gt-r's, rx7's and the "blackbird" porsche in intense 300km/h runs.


Today, during my usual raids i came across this absolute gem of a car. It is actually the owner of the workshop who complied my evo's car. its a fully restored 1976 Red 260z with 31000kms and wait for it.., a 3.1L stroked L28 engine, long list of period specific goodies and fat watanabes to boot. Not quite the 240z but the 260 is just a 240 with bigger engine anyway.



The stance and presence is incredible! colour (YES RED :D), body, engine .. everything is perfect. its the stuff dreams are made of! in fact its what i would dream of having if i ever ventured off into the world of old skool monsters. The cost of this beautiful car? $50,000. a bargain? for something that will probably appreciate in value.. maybe!, especially if you want a showstopper that'll induce aural orgasms with that roaring stroked engine. This kids, is the classic car i WANT, my very own "Devil-Z" !!

fizzled out

Its been a few weeks and i've no updates to report. my rims are still on a boat, i've got another package coming from japan soon. I started up my holiday savings account and so i'll be slowly contributing to that.

evo is running good and is booked in for a service with meek on tuesday. can u believe it? i've done roughly 11000-12000kms in the evo in about 4months, i think thats alot of driving lol. i'll be getting some quotes soon on a catback exhaust, i have a few exhaust combos in mind but am quite set on the exhaust masters fujitsubo. Will update this blog with something more worthwhile soon!

even hairdressers need speed

something non-evo related today ! my mate mike had purchased a mini cooper s recently, its a punchy little thing i can see the appeal of superchargers and the mini cooper s. it handles and brakes very well quite a fun yet gay drive lol. anyways, he purchased an intake kit and we helped install it.

the instructions were quite simple, we spent most of our time looking for a texta to mark exactly where to saw (my fault LOL, i didnt want to botch his car). its very straight forward:

the new intake kit (k&n pod with intake lid

- remove the intake lid and pipe

- mark the centre of the hole
- hole saw the plastic where air comes into the stock intake

- have a hairspray break (this really happened, no seriously!! it did)... WTF LOLLLLLLL!!!
- with some love, get the new intake into the slot
- clamp everything up
